What does Habitat for Humanity of Northwest Louisiana do?

Through volunteer labor and donations of money and supplies HFHNWLA builds simple, decent, affordable housing for low-income families.

How much does a HFHNWLA house cost?

It costs approximately $50,000 to build each habitat home.

Can low-income families afford a Habitat home?

Habitat houses are affordable for low-income families because there is no profit and no interest included in the sale of the house. Mortgage length varies from 15 to 20 years.

How does the Housing Program work?

Habitat is not a giveaway program. In addition to a down payment and the monthly mortgage payments, homeowners must invest hundreds of hours of their own labor "sweat equity" into building their Habitat house and the houses of others.
