In 1990, the Valencia Park neighborhood in Shreveport was an eyesore. Decaying houses sat next to empty, weed-infested lots on pothole-covered streets. Drug dealers used long-abandoned houses for commerce while senior citizens were hidden behind locked doors. While the neighborhood had its share of concerned citizens, they were outnumbered by drug dealers, renters and absentee landlords that simply didn't care. |

Habitat for Humanity of Northwest LA and Diamond Jacks Casino Resort along with BAFB dedicated a new home at 3061 Dallas Street in Shreveport on Friday, November 16 at 10:00 a.m. The new homeowner, Michelle Wells and her sons will move into this brand new home that was built by Barksdale Air Force Base, DiamonJacks employees and volunteers as they assisted crews in the construction of the home. |

Habitat for Humanity of Northwest Louisiana hosted a groundbreaking along with major sponsor, Boyd Gaming’s Sam’s Town Hotel & Casino on Thursday, May 10, 2007, at 10:00 a.m.
 The groundbreaking ceremony was held at the future home site, located at 3002 Lufkin in the Valencia neighborhood in Shreveport. The home is being built for single parent, Lisa Richards who was displaced from her New Orleans residence as a result of Hurricane Katrina. |

Habitat for Humanity of Northwest Louisiana and DiamondJacks Casino Resort , Bossier City dedicated a new home at 908 Princeton Avenue in Bossier City on Thursday, May 3 at 10:00 a.m. The new homeowner, Anita Harrison and her son and niece will move into the house this month. The home is within walking distance to an elementary school which is a blessing for Harris. Her son will start classes at Central Park Elementary, located just 2 blocks from their home in the fall.  |

Film Set Items Donated to Habitat for Humanity |

The Mist Film Production Company has donated set items upon completion of their most recent project in Shreveport. Items from the set will be used for Habitat for Humanity projects locally. "The Mist Production crew has been very generous to Habitat for Humanity. We look forward to partnering with them again on upcoming projects" said Kristen Johnson, C.O.O. |
